The Park Ridge learning community would like to welcome you to our school and have you experience all the great things that take place daily in our classrooms. We are committed to providing a rigorous curriculum with an emphasis on student engagement, relationships, and all century skills.

We believe in an effective home-school connection where administrators, teachers, parents, and students work together to ensure every student learns every day. Inside the walls of Park Ridge there are future scholars, authors, mathematicians, scientist, historians, educators, doctors, lawyers, engineers and so much more. Our job as a learning community committed to student success is to ensure that their skills manifest and we make our students the very best they can be.

Quality Profile

School Improvement Plan

Goal 1: Support high expectations for academic performance and expand opportunities for every student.
- Objective: Park Ridge Elementary School will close performance gaps between reporting categories, improving performance for every student.
  - Target 1: 75% of students will earn a grade of 3 on Science assessments, as graded using the Standards Based Grading criteria.
  - Target 2: 100% of students will engage in at least one inquiry based learning opportunity per 9 weeks.
Goal 2: Ensure every student, staff, and family member receives a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment in our schools.
- Objective: Close gaps in climate perception across and within schools for students, teachers, and families.
  - Target 1: By the end of Quarter 1, 100% of students will be explicitly taught the PRES Behavior expectations and communicated to families. For every quarter following Q1, teachers will review expectations and connect with families.
  - Target 2: All (100%) students and staff will understand School-wide behavioral expectations.
Goal 3: Ensure every student, staff, and family member receives a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment in our schools.
- Objective: Ensure all students are physically, mentally, and emotionally safe in their learning environment.
  - Target 1: By the end of first quarter, the students in last year’s cohort of chronically absent students (15.95%) will have missed no more than 2 days of school
  - Target 2: By the end of second quarter, 90% of students will have missed five or fewer days of school.
  - Target 3: Annual chronic absenteeism rate will be no more than 15%.

Changes in Dismissal

If your student needs to go home in a way different from their normal way, the school office must be notified by the parent. Notice may be sent in through phone call (540-658-6320), email (palotayke@staffordschools.net), or written note. All dismissal changes need to be submitted by 12 pm.

If your child is going home with another student, both parents must write a note giving permission for the change to occur. Please allow 24 hours for special requests.

We understand circumstances arise and dismissal needs to be changed sometimes. If a last minute dismissal change needs to be made, please let the office know ASAP. As you can imagine, the end of the day is hectic, and we need enough time to notify all students and teachers/staff of any changes. We want every student to arrive home safely and on-time, and your help in this matter makes a difference.

Attendance

Absences need to be reported to the office. For same day absences, you can call the office directly to let us know of the absence and then follow up with a note when they return or you can report the absence on our website. To do this go to the PRES homepage under “Parents” and click on the “Report an Absence” link. Fill in the necessary fields to report the absence and submit. This submission will be considered your note for explaining the absence. We can then enter your child’s absence as excused.

Attendance calls to parents are automated. Unexcused absences will be pulled daily from our attendance system and calls will automatically be sent to parents every morning to make them aware their child is not in school. If your child has a prearranged, excused absence, please let us know by sending in a note explaining the absence as soon as possible. By sending in the note, your child’s absence can be entered as excused and this will help eliminate receiving the attendance call.
